The wrestling world is on fire after WWE legend John Cena announced his return to the ring.

Cena is coming back to end the year 2022 on a high note. The iconic 16-time World Champion has wrestled at least once every year dating back to his rookie year in 2002. That stretch was about to end, but he just ensured his legions of fans he’d step in the ring to keep the stretch going.

Cena closed WWE Smackdown in the Chicago suburbs, where he made his debut. He left a video message to Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns and his Bloodline stable. WWE tweeted the video in which the legend made the announcement of his return. He and former Universal Champion Kevin Owens will join forces on December 30 against Reigns and Honorary Uce, Sami Zayn.

“And you’re asking me, that on the last Smackdown of the year, December 30th, if I want to partner with Kevin Owens against the uciest Sami Zayn and the Tribal Chief, the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, Roman Reigns? In a main event match that can’t be missed?!” Cena asked Owens and the Allstate Arena crowd.

He didn’t leave too much to the imagination and responded swiftly.

“Hell yes, I’ll be there!” Cena exclaimed as he accepted Owens’ request.

The last time that the wrestling icon competed on Smackdown was on December 29, 2018. On that night, he teamed with Becky Lynch and wrestled former WWE superstar Andrade and his former business manager, Zelina Vega.

Twitter was abuzz after Cena announced his in-ring return.
