A new lawsuit with horrible allegations has been filed against Disgraced WWE chairman Vince McMahon and the organization.
Former WWE writer, Britney Abrahams, filed a lawsuit in the U.S. District for the Eastern District of New York on Monday, according to Bloomberg Law. The lawsuit alleges that McMahon, executives and other company employees discriminated against and retaliated against Abrahams for raising concerns regarding “offensively racist and stereotypical jargon” used in the promotion’s scripts.
According to the complaint, Abrahams began writing for WWE SmackDown! and WWE Monday Night RAW in 2020. Abrahams complained about the use of racial and gender stereotypes in the scriptwriting, but her complaints fell on deaf ears. Because of that, the lawsuit maintains that she was allegedly subject to a number of racist pitches, as a result of her complaints.
In another alleged incident, on a Slack thread that included McMahon and his daughter, Stephanie, it was suggested by one of the writers that a Black male wrestler should dress in drag. In a separate incident, another writer allegedly proposed that a secret in a script involving a Muslim wrestler would reveal that he was “behind the 9/11 attacks,” as per Bloomberg Law.
Abrahams said that she was fired as a result of retaliation. WWE fired her after she took home a WrestleMania commemorative chair, even though this was a common and accepted practice in the organization that White male writers did not receive punishment for.
Clearly, the allegations in this lawsuit are serious and should be treated as such.
