WWE fans haven’t been able to get their fill of superstar Becky Lynch lately. The former multi-time Women’s Champion and WrestleMania main-eventer has been sidelined with a shoulder injury she suffered this past July at SummerSlam.

But while we know absence makes the heart grow fonder, WWE fans learned of an exciting development on Tuesday. Lynch is poised to make her sitcom television debut this Friday. And it’s not just any role or show either.

PWInsider reported that Becky will be featured on the season premiere of Young Rock. The show, of course, focuses on the childhood and early life of WWE legend Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. And Becky will play the role of another icon: Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Cyndi Lauper.

“WWE’s Becky Lynch, billed under her given name of Rebecca Quinn, will be playing rock star Cyndi Lauper in the season premiere of Young Rock season three,” wrote Mike Johnson of PWInsider on Tuesday. The news was also teased to WWE fans by TV Insider’s Scott Fishman on Monday night.

The episode will deal with the hoopla around WrestleMania I in 1985. Lauper was integral that evening and for much of the 1980s wrestling boom. She headed up the Rock ‘n Wrestling Connection, which helped launch WWE to new heights. You could make a solid argument that Lauper was as important as anyone in that era. Her impact is Hall-of-Fame-worthy, as many have said over the years:

And this is a big deal for Becky Lynch. Lynch’s undeniable popularity may have her fans conflicted between the show and Smackdown on Friday. This is also her second notable TV appearance, having appeared on Showtime’s Billions back in 2020.

The Young Rock season premiere will air at 8:30 p.m. ET on Friday night on NBC.
