Wade Boggs is pushing the boundaries what’s acceptable in the New York Yankees-Boston Red Sox rivalry.

The Hall of Fame third baseman spent a decade of his illustrious career with the Red Sox before jumping ship to the rival Yankees in the mid 90’s, where he won his first and only World Series. Boggs is ultimately considered a Red Sox legend.

When the team held a ceremony honoring the 1986 team on Wednesday, Boggs, wearing a Red Sox jersey, decided to test Boston’s respect, as he wore his Yankees World Series ring.

Boggs deserves to wear the ring whenever he wants as it’s a tremendous accomplishment to win the World Series. However, getting honored by the Boston Red Sox probably isn’t the right time to do so. I wouldn’t say it’s disrespectful, but it certainly seems unnecessary.

As For The Win notes, Boggs apparently never takes his ring off as he’s been photographed at Red Sox events wearing it with pride.

Boggs is proud of his accomplishments and the ring wasn’t made not to be worn. Still, you’d think Boggs would pick and choose when it’s most appropriate to wear it, instead of just always donning it. Wearing it during the Red Sox ceremony probably wasn’t the smartest decision.
