Steph Curry’s knee is perhaps the most discussed and fretted-over joint in all of professional sports right now, and fans hoping to see the MVP return sooner than later just got some good news.

It sounds like Curry’s rehab is progressing quite well. He’s only one week into the two-week timetable set up when he first suffered the injury, and talk of a return by Game 2 on Tuesday can only be a good sign. The merits of rushing Curry back that quickly for a series they can likely win without him are up for debate, but at least that conversation is on the table.

Based on this report and Curry himself saying he hopes to be back by Game 3, it sounds like the Warriors will be at full strength just in time for a potential matchup with San Antonio in the Western Conference Finals. Good news for their fans and anyone else who enjoys watching basketball.

Still, there is no need to rush Curry back and risk re-injury before the next round. The Warriors have played just fine without their top player. Since he suffered his knee injury in Game 4 of the Rockets series, the Golden State Warriors have not really missed the MVP’s presence.

That being said, it might also be good for the Warriors to get Curry’s feet wet before diving into a matchup with the Spurs or Thunder.

Injuries and maybe the Spurs seem to be the only things that could stop Golden State from repeating, so it will be interesting to see how the Warriors manage the return of their star in the face of two competing interests.
