Northeast Ohio residents have been waiting a looooong time to celebrate a championship — most Cleveland sports fans weren’t even alive in 1954, the last time one of the city’s teams had won a title before Sunday night. So it’s easy to imagine there were some tears shed in the region when the Cavaliers sealed their first ever O’Brien Trophy.

Nike tapped into that emotion for a truly stirring ad commemorating Cleveland’s big night.

The best advertising makes you feel, and you’d have to be near-soulless (or a bitter Bay Area native) to watch that commercial and not get a few goosebumps.

Trivial as sports may ultimately be, they mean a whole lot to a whole lot of people, and a night like this reminds you these games have more at stake than just a trophy.

Sunday night’s Nike ad harkens back to the spot the company produced when LeBron first came back to the Cavs, depicting all of Cleveland joining him in the huddle shouting “Together.” James has been preaching Northeast-Ohio pride since the day he announced his return, and Sunday was a culmination not just for him, but for all the region’s fans.
