The Denver Broncos were given their Super Bowl rings on Sunday night. Each player and coach received a 5.05 carat diamond-encrusted ring with World Champions on the front with a Broncos logo. The ring looks incredibly swanky, as we detailed earlier Monday.
Defensive coordinator Wade Phillips was a little disappointed with his ring, however. How could he possibly be upset after receiving the diamond-encrusted marvel? Well, his ring reportedly had the wrong name on it, Phillips told Jeff Legwold of ESPN.com. It’s not clear whether it was an entirely different name on his ring or a typo, but Phillips expressed disappointment on his Twitter account about the name snafu.

It’s easy to understand his frustration. Phillips has coached in the NFL for more than 30 seasons and hadn’t won a Super Bowl until this past season. He’s waited a long time for the ring. He was so pumped he surprisingly recited Drake lyrics last week in anticipation of getting his ring.
“As soon as I get it, I’m going to put it on,” Phillips said. “I may wear it all the time. We’ll see. It’s a really big ring. It’s a really big thing. We’ve got a really big team — as Drake would say.”
I’d imagine he pulled a Ralph Wiggum when he opened the box and saw his name wasn’t correct.
This story should have a happy ending. Phillips tweeted the ring is going to be replaced by the manufacturer, Jostens. For a man who’s had to wait decades to get his ring, he’s going to have to wait just a little bit longer.
