Glen Rice Jr

Glen Rice Jr. was arrested on July 25, after allegedly beating up a former NCAA basketball player reports TMZ.

The former Washington Wizards guard is alleged to have broken former Tulane point guard Jordan Callahan’s jaw after a dispute in Georgia in a Kroger parking lot. Rice Jr. reportedly grabbed a bag from his car and ran away following the incident. Police eventually caught up the 25-year-old and discovered he had two guns in the bag – an AK-47 and a Taurus .38 Special, with bullets according to TMZ. Cops also found another gun in the Porshe he was driving. To top it all off, they also found six cell phones and roughly $2,700.

Police charged Rice Jr. with felony robbery, aggravated battery, and possession of marijuana.

Rice Jr.’s fall from grace has been ongoing for years. The son of three-time All-Star Glen Rice, Rice Jr. was kicked off the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in 2011-12 after a shooting incident outside an Atlanta nightclub. He played D-League basketball and after showing his talents, was drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers and subsequently traded to the Wizards. The closest Rice Jr. got to NBA stardom was a Summer League MVP in 2013. He appeared in 16 career games over two seasons with Washington before leaving the game.

Rice Jr. was shot in the leg in October 2015, in an Atlanta restaurant and was charged with marijuana possession, having 240 grams of the illegal substance.

It’s sad to see someone’s life spiral out of control before your eyes, especially a public figure who once had a bright future ahead of him. Here’s to hoping the latest bout with legal trouble straightens Rice Jr. out, because his continual violent, law-breaking mistakes are ruining his life.
