Sometimes, life just doesn’t want to let you have a win.

Ever have days like that? Having a great morning at work, then get something dumped on you in the afternoon? Or you hit every single green light, then get blocked by a train? Basically think of the lyrics to “Ironic” and transfer those scenarios that don’t actually describe irony and you get what I’m trying to describe. Like reverse karma.

Anyway, here’s Mike Muscala providing a visual illustration of this concept:

A fantastic tip dunk, to be sure! Then a ridiculous fall to the court, which should probably happen more often than it does, when you consider the physics and mechanics of dunking. These guys are jumping very high, moving very fast, in a sea of bodies; it’s a testament to their athleticism that more aren’t injured. If you gave me the ability to walk outside right now and throw one down, I’d absolutely take advantage, but there’s a decent chance I couldn’t land without blowing out an ankle.

Muscala stayed in the game, meaning he probably just had the wind knocked out of him.

Relatedly, I’ll take having the wind knocked out of me over listening to “Ironic” any day of the week.
