Two Western Michigan University football players are in custody for allegdly holding up a female student while armed with a knife and gun.

The incident occurred around 9 p.m. Friday night, according to a local CBS affiliate. The players in question are 20-year-old Bryson White, a wide receiver, and 18-year-old Ron George, a linebacker. Jail records show the pair is still in custody and are set to be arraigned on Sunday.

Western Michigan head coach P.J. Fleck provided the following statement to reporters about the incident:

“Having heard this news early this morning, I took action to immediately suspend both freshman players indefinitely. We expect to learn more about these allegations today. I’m extremely disappointed and want to assure the community that this kind of conduct is unacceptable and does not represent the values of this team or this university. The students will be held accountable to all University student- code, Athletic-student athlete and Football Code of conduct standards. Violations of these standards can lead to dismissal from the team and University.”

White and George were both arrested later that night when police pulled the car they were driving over on the Western Michigan campus. Police found weapons and stolen money in the car as well.

Western Michigan spokesperson Cheryl Roland said there is no ongoing threat to students at the school and the two players will not be allowed back on campus until further notice.
