USC’s Athletic Director Pat Haden will be retire from his post on June 30th of this year according to a statement released by the school on Friday. For the following year after that, he will be heading a fundraising initiative to renovate the LA Coliseum. Haden will retire after just about six years on the job at USC after spending many years as a trustee of the university as well as an analyst for Notre Dame football on NBC.

Haden’s early tenure at USC was tumultuous, as he had to help guide Trojan football through a period of sanctions and scholarship limitations stemming from Pete Carroll’s tenure as head coach. Recent times have also not been kind, as he has had to deal with the fallout from Steve Sarkisian’s rocky tenure as head coach. He hired Clay Helton to be the full time head coach for USC starting next season after two spells as an interim coach, the fourth under Haden’s watch.

USC teams have won 10 national championships since Haden took over, second only to Florida’s 11 during the same period. He also introduced two new sports for women as well, lacrosse and beach volleyball.

Haden resigned from the College Football Playoff Committee as well last year, and was replaced by Oregon AD Rob Mullens.
