Brandon Marshall

It must be nice to be rich.

New York Jets wide receiver Brandon Marshall has issued a challenge to receiver Antonio Brown of the Pittsburgh Steelers. In an Instagram post, Marshall bet Brown he’ll have more receiving yards in 2016, and if he doesn’t, he’ll give him his white Porsche. If he wins, Brown has to give him his Rolls-Royce. Seems fair.

@ab I’ve never seen you back down from a challenge. #race4pinks

Brown accepted his challenge and called out Marshall in the process. He told TMZ Marshall was just looking for PR and “he’s too old to be doing that.” With that said, he’s down.

“The RR is about $100K up (from the Porsche value),” Brown told TMZ. “If he really serious, CALL ME…I’ll gladly accept. Don’t Internet it.”

It’s a fair wager to make for Brown who led Marshall by more than 300 receiving yards (1,834 vs 1,502) in 2015. Both are damn fine receivers, so it should remain fairly close. However, Marshall might be a bit over his head, considering Brown might be the best at his position.

Does Marshall make this bet if Ryan Fitzpatrick doesn’t re-sign with the Jets yesterday? Doubtful. Fitzpatrick is the gun-slinging QB who helped Marshall have a smashing season in 2015. Without him, he’d be lucky to top 1,000 yards with Geno Smith throwing his way.

Good on Marshall for throwing out the challenge, it adds some intrigue entering the season. The callout might have cost him a Porsche, however.
