The USA women’s hockey team have won their first gold medal since 1998.

It was lame that such an amazing gold medal women’s game had to be decided by a shootout after the USA and Canada were tied 2-2 through overtime, but the shootout really was amazing.

The first stunning play in the shootout came from Canada’s Melodie Daoust, on this absolutely ridiculous goal to give Canada a 2-1 lead in the shootout.

But the USA would tie the shootout 2-2 on a goal from Amanda Kessel, and then Jocelyne Lamoureux-Davidson matched Daoust in the filthy goal department. And this one would serve as the gold medal-winning goal:

USA goaltender Maddie Rooney would then stop a Meghan Agosta to secure the gold medal for Team USA.

The celebration is on for the USA.
