If you’re a Jimmy Buffett fan and are retired or are nearing retirement, this may be for you. The “Margaritaville” singer is planning to open a chain of retirement communities along the beaches of Florida celebrating the calming beach lifestyle the singer is known for in his music.

The first community is set to open in Daytona Beach, Florida with an expected move in date starting in the summer of 2018. Homes are expected to fetch between $200k and $350k and will have fitness facilities, live entertainment and beachfront views.

For a “Parrothead” over the age of 55, this seems like it would be the ultimate place to live. I also got to thinking if it would be a good idea for other musicians to have their own housing complex for their fans.

The first I thought of was Kiss. Their fans are dedicated and the band has put their name on just about everything that could be sold for over 40 years. It’s a wonder that they haven’t thought of this yet.

And speaking of dedicated fans, the Grateful Dead would have a very kick ass retirement community. Imagine going to a place where most of the people living there are like Bill Walton.

But I think my favorite would be a Beatles themed retirement community. One, I love the music and they have such a vast catalog that you can do themes within themes of the retirement community based on what kind of Beatles music you’re into.

But I don’t think you can go wrong with lounging in a Jimmy Buffett themed retirement community. Just make sure you keep an eye on that shaker of salt and enjoy some cheeseburgers in paradise.
