Bristol Motor Speedway has been rocked with rain this past weekend. Normally, it’s not that big a deal but the short track has NASCAR and rain is the root of all evil for NASCAR and its fans. A rain delay makes everyone mad. NASCAR, the networks, the fans, everyone isn’t pleased when a race has to be delayed.
But rain delays are an unfortunate part of NASCAR and after seeing the dire weather forecast yesterday morning, NASCAR decided to not even attempt to start the race on Sunday. Instead, NASCAR will attempt to have the Food City 500 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race on Monday afternoon.
Flash floods in Tennessee caused fans to have to seek higher ground and shelter, which can be a bit difficult if you are staying in an RV at the track. An RV is big but depending on how much it rains, even that can go away.

Driving around outside the track, because he couldn’t do it on the track, MENCS driver Chris Buescher went out into the campgrounds to help fans get to safety.
As you can see, conditions were pretty bad and Buescher made a stand-up move helping out however he can. It sucks for everyone, especially fans attending, when a race is delayed so at the very least, Buescher was there to give fans a little happiness on the glum day.
The weather report at Bristol is way better today. The forecast calls for mostly cloudy skies and just a 40% chance of rain. And speaking of Chris Buescher, he knows of anyone the benefit of waiting to race on Monday. Buescher parlayed pit strategy last year to get his first win in a massive upset on a rain cancelled Monday race at Pocono. Will that happen today at Bristol? If karma has anything to do with it, Buescher may have a shot after what he did yesterday.
