Wojtek Wolski played for five different NHL teams during his eight-season NHL career, most notably for the Colorado Avalanche in the late 2000s where he was around a 20-goal scorer. Since the start of the 2013-14 season, he’s played in the KHL. Now playing for Metallurg Magnitogorsk, he suffered a very scary injury while chasing the puck into the boards.
The video is below, and fair warning if you watch it:
He needed to be taken off the ice on a stretcher, and was taken to a local hospital and placed in the intensive care unit. He’s out for the rest of the season with a litany of scary injuries including a broken neck.
Just spoke with @WojtekWolski86 following the horrific incident on the ice yesterday. Asked me to pass this message on. pic.twitter.com/C1WcNOVsAR

According to his team, Wolski was diagnosed with a, “fracture of the seventh and fourth cervical vertebrae of the cervical spinal cord, brain concussion, bruises and abrasions on the face.” Thankfully, it appears that he will be able to make a full recovery from these injuries and have no lasting damage.
