Whatever the Philadelphia Phillies’ plan was against Yoenis Cespedes on Tuesday night, well, it was either very bad or executed terribly by their pitchers. That was actually the case for Phillies pitchers against all Mets hitters in the game, as New York cranked seven dingers on the evening.
Cespedes had three of those homers, in the game’s first five innings! In doing so, he became the first Mets player to ever hit three homers in a game twice.
Exit velocities on Cespedes' three homers:
No. 1: 105.2 mph
No. 2: 109.3 mph
No. 3: 108.3 mph— Anthony DiComo (@AnthonyDiComo) April 12, 2017
And in his fourth plate appearance, Cespedes hit a measly double to the center field wall for the Mets’ hardest-hit ball of the season, with an exit velocity of 111 MPH.
Yoenis Cespedes hit a double 111 MPH tonight… That's the hardest ball the @Mets have hit this year. Surpassing Noah Syndergaard, 110.3 MPH

You can probably gather that the Mets won this game, and they did so by the score of 14-4.
