If you’re watching Wednesday afternoon’s Rays-Royals game, you’re a stronger person than I am.
Perhaps the most interesting part of this matinee between two fourth place teams look place in the bottom of the fourth inning, when Rays starter Jake Faria slipped on the mound and threw a pitch to Alcides Escobar that landed juuuuust a bit short of home plate.

Here’s a side view of Faria slipping off the rubber.
Jake Faria, Mechanics (side view/44 mph pitch).
It happened to be on his 69th pitch of the game. 👍

The pitch also managed to break MLB Statcast, and was clocked at just 43.7 mph.
The Royals would score just one run in that inning, despite Faria’s mishap on the hill. But his game would come to an end in the fifth inning, and the Rays starter finished with a line of 4 1/3 innings pitched, four hits, three earned runs, four walks, and just two strikeouts.
In case you care, the Rays ended up winning 5-3.
