We know it’s a long baseball season, but Kansas City Royals outfielder Michael A. Taylor may have the catch of the year so far when he prevented a home run from the St. Louis Cardinals.

Taylor timed his jump just right to prevent that home run from going over the wall and the reaction from baseball fans and media across the board has been, ‘how did he do it?’ That’s what Anne Rogers, who covers the Royals for MLB.com, was asking.

Taylor’s catch also didn’t go unnoticed by the likes of ESPN, Bleacher Report, and other news organizations.

You have to know that this catch will probably be recognized on SportsCenter later today as part of their Plays of the Week segment.

Bleacher Report also was stunned by Taylor’s catch. It was a clutch play, to say the least, and it caught a lot of eyes on Monday.

Taylor, who was drafted in 2014 by the Washington Nationals, and played for them for seven years, has been playing centerfield with the Royals since 2021. Although, he’s gotten off to a slow start with the bat (his batting average right now is .238) there seems to be nothing wrong with his catching abilities.

The Royals sit in last place in the American League Central standings with a 7-14 record, so they can use all the help they can get at this point.
