He might not be a factor in the driver’s championship but Bubba Wallace has something to say in the owner’s championship and he got Denny Hamlin and Michael Jordan into the next round with his win at Kansas Speedway.

Wallace earned his second career NASCAR Cup Series win at Kansas, after winning at Talladega last year, and becoming the 18th different NASCAR Cup Series winner this season.

Wallace was quick all race and in the final stage, got into the lead. Wallace led the final 42 laps to become the first Black NASCAR driver to win multiple races.

Unlike at Talladega, where the race was rain-shortened, Wallace got his win by taking his car to the advertised end. While Wallace isn’t in the drivers championship, 23XI Racing put him in the owner’s championship due to Kurt Busch’s ongoing concussion recovery. That wound up being a good move as Wallace is now in the Round of 12. Joining him is Christopher Bell, who is the only driver to clinch a berth into the next round via the driver’s and owner’s championship.

While there were some haters, many more people were happy for Bubba and that he got his second career win.
