Hunter Dickinson became the day’s talk on Wednesday after fascinating comments and a brutal message to his former team.
Dickinson previously starred with the Michigan Wolverines before a recent transfer to powerhouse Kansas. While he was in Ann Arbor, he helped lead Michigan to an Elite Eight appearance. But things never coalesced again, so Dickinson decided to go from Michigan to Kansas.
If you listen to him, money may have significantly influenced his decision. According to ESPN, Dickinson went on the RoundBall podcast and said, “The people hating on me would leave their job right now for a $10,000 increase. … I was getting less than six figures at Michigan for the year.”
Former Michigan star Hunter Dickinson implied that an increase in his NIL earnings played a role in his decision to transfer to Kansas.

William Payne also chimed in on Hunter’s side and against the NIL opponents.
Y’all fine with millions upon millions of dollars being the driving force behind nearly every single decision made within college athletics until the players get to make some of those same decisions. https://t.co/1Bqt0DrEYt

I would’ve said “I got less than eight figures at Michigan last year” just to watch the world burn. https://t.co/Mr0u7RCu65

It’s safe to say it won’t be the last day that NIL is discussed at length. Hunter Dickinson is merely the next subject in a growing line.
