The San Francisco 49ers will play the Philadelphia Eagles this weekend. Last year, these two teams collided in the NFC Championship Game, and the animosity between the two sides is still fresh. That factor and more should lead to an exciting game this weekend that could help decide the NFC.

One aspect of the game that will undoubtedly be under the microscope will be the ‘Tush Push.’ Philadelphia’s quarterback sneak play is all the rage right now, depending on whose side of the equation you land on.

According to 49ers Web Zone, Shanahan had much to say on the play and how the team planned to prepare. Well, “plan.”

Head coach Kyle Shanahan admits that his 49ers won’t devote time on the practice field to stopping the play. Instead, they will prioritize playing fundamentally sound football with the hope of avoiding encountering the play altogether.

When questioned about preparing for the Eagles’ popular play, Shanahan joked, ‘We’re going to do like 10 live reps of it today, see if I have anybody left after it.’

The coach emphasized it’s not something you practice. So, how do you prepare for the possibility of encountering the play on Sunday?

‘You coach it up, tell them where we want guys and stuff,” Shanahan responded. “Not going to spend a lot of time on it, but we’re going to talk about it, show it, and do as good as we can.”

The Niners and the Eagles will renew their hostilities in ‘America’s Game of the Week’ at 4:25 p.m. Eastern on Sunday. They’ll play in Philadelphia, the site of last year’s hotly-contested NFC Championship Game. Brock Purdy injured his elbow in that game, which ultimately doomed the Niners against the Eagles.

This time around, San Francisco hopes a better recipe leads to a win. The Eagles are 5-0 at home in Philadelphia, so a Niners win would be the first at Lincoln Financial Field this season. The 8-3 49ers hope to hand the 10-1 Eagles their second loss of the season in what could be an incredible game.
