According to Aaron Rodgers now, the star quarterback’s return hinges on a few factors.
The New York Jets quarterback has seemingly teased that he could be poised for an unprecedented return to the field. Rodgers suffered an Achilles injury that appeared to doom him during the team’s Week 1 game against the Buffalo Bills. Rodgers has missed every game since, but continues to try and throw and recover in time to play this season.
Rodgers made his weekly appearance on ‘The Pat McAfee Show’ on Tuesday. While he was there, Rodgers updated everyone on his status.
Adam Schefter, ESPN NFL insider, posted that Rodgers said “that any potential return this season will depend on both his health and the Jets’ playoff possibilities.”

The Jets, of course, are 4-7 right now and appear to be totally doomed. Tim Boyle and Zach Wilson just aren’t enough for the team to compete and hide other deficiencies the team has this year. While the defense is talented, they’re not getting many good results thanks to a punchless offense.
So it might be kind of ridiculous for Rodgers, who made it seem like he was going to be ready to go, to now say that his progress depends on the team’s chances. Unless a miracle happens, it will be tough for the Jets to navigate this upcoming stretch. The team has games remaining this season against the Houston Texans, the Miami Dolphins, and the Cleveland Browns, all three standing as potential playoff teams this year.
Then again, you have to wonder if Rodgers is doing this all for show. It probably wouldn’t be the first time.
