Cleveland Browns wide receiver Amari Cooper has made some big catches in his life. But on Sunday afternoon against the San Francisco 49ers, the veteran wide receiver may have made his best ever. Cooper made what was both figuratively and literally an amazing and improbable catch that will hit the highlight reel.

Browns quarterback P.J. Walker put it up for the former Pro Bowl wide receiver. Cooper jumped over 49ers cornerback Charvarius Ward for the absurd catch.

The catch was not only insane to watch, but it was insane it happened in the first place. Next Gen Stats posted that Cooper’s catch “had a completion probability of 9.0%, the most improbable completion of the 2023 season.”

So, you can say with a straight face that it was THE most improbable catch of the entire NFL season so far.

Cooper and the Browns are locked in a battle with the 49ers, which has entered the 4th quarter. They haven’t trailed in the second half this season, but they’re staring a defeat right in their face. Part of the reason? This improbable catch that Cooper made.

Going into the day, Cooper had 18 receptions for 259 yards and one receiving touchdown this season. So he’s been productive enough, but he more than made up for any deficiencies on Sunday afternoon in Cleveland.

The NFL world had plenty to say.
