The Washington Huskies lost their head coach to the Alabama Crimson Tide. It now appears they’ve also lost their quarterback of the future too. Austin Mack just announced that he will transfer to the University of Alabama.

Mack announced his decision to go from Washington to Alabama on his personal X account.

“ROLL TIDE!!” he posted alongside an elephant emoji.

Mack will have all four years of eligibility remaining after not seeing the field this past season. Michael Penix Jr. obviously had no problem leading the Huskies all the way to the National Championship Game. Things ended sourly for UW though. The Michigan Wolverines romped them in the title game to cap off a perfect 15-0 season.

Since then, head coach Kalen DeBoer fled Seattle for Tuscaloosa. A huge swath of transfers and departures followed. It’s created a brand new situation for new head coach Jedd Fisch to deal with. Fisch will have his work cut out for him for however long he’s there.

Alabama is also adjusting to new times. Not everyone is keen on staying around without the legendary Nick Saban. The longtime Alabama coach announced his retirement earlier this month to massive shockwaves everywhere. A significant change in college football’s dichotomies could be well underway. WE won’t know for a while, though.

What we do know is DeBoer will have the guy he picked to lead the charge in Washington someday. It’s not likely that he will play in front of Jalen Milroe next season, but Mack will be one to watch in the future.
