Josh Allen Bills Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen appears to have at least maintained his sanity after Sunday’s heartbreaking loss.

The Bills fell 27-24 to the Kansas City Chiefs. Buffalo has been snakebitten in the past by the Chiefs, and that trend continued again Sunday. Bills kicker Tyler Bass missed a game-tying field goal in the waning moments. The feeling was all too familiar for Bills fans, who’ve experienced missed kicks in crucial moments before.

A day later, Allen is keeping perspective.

“It’s surreal. On the bright side, we woke up this morning,” Allen said of how he’s feeling after the loss.

Sometimes, it’s okay to keep a perspective like this. The Bills have had their ups, and they have had their downs. Their lowlights have been spotlighted often, and this is a familiar feeling again for the team. They’ve ben ousted in the divisional round in each of the last three seasons. They haven’t gotten over that hump. Losses like the ones they took on Sunday will only haunt them even more.

But despite that, Allen is keeping an even keel. He has millions of reasons to, obviously. But it’s good to see. It says a lot about his character and the group around him. We’ll see if that stays consistent in what’s going to be a long but potentially important offseason in Buffalo.
