The Los Angeles Chargers made a quarterback move on Christmas Day. The team decided to waive former TCU star and Heisman Trophy finalist Max Duggan.

News of Duggan’s release first emerged on Monday afternoon. LA posted the news on their account on X, the website formerly known as Twitter.

“We’ve waived QB Max Duggan,” the Chargers posted.

The Chargers drafted Duggan in the seventh round of the 2023 NFL Draft. Duggan entered the NFL after a great career in college. He helped lead TCU to the College Football Playoff final last year in Los Angeles, California. TCU ultimately lost big to the Georgia Bulldogs, who won their second consecutive CFP title.

Duggan has yet to see an NFL snap, so this move means he might have to wait a bit longer to do that. The move came while the Chargers try to figure out their last remaining moves this season. QB Justin Herbert is out for the remainder of the 2023 season and the team’s deployed Easton Stick to lead command.

We’ve seen numerous quarterback waives that have indicated it’s not the end of the line for Max Duggan, though. So perhaps this is just the start of something for him, or maybe LA signs him back. New England kept Malik Cunningham and Bailey Zappe going through these methods all season long, for example.
