Chris Jones has been a vital piece to the puzzle for the Kansas City Chiefs. That fact alone has made people wonder if the Chiefs will bring the accomplished defensive end back to go for a 3-peat next season and beyond.
The two sides haven’t reached a deal yet. It appeared like headway was going to be made once the Chiefs decided to use the franchise tag on cornerback L’Jarius Sneed. Kansas City doesn’t appear to have a great future lined up for Sneed, as they’ve already nudged him toward finding a trade partner. So, that frees up space for the talented Jones.
Does that mean it will get done? Not necessarily, of course, but everything is out in the open right now. Chiefs head coach Andy Reid gave his thoughts on the situation and what he thinks. He spoke to Rich Eisen on The Rich Eisen Show about the situation.
“I’m hoping [it is close],” Reid said via Pro Football Talk. “I can’t give you anything because I don’t have a whole lot. I’m doing all these media things, so maybe something is going better than I think it is,” Reid admitted.
“We’d love to have him back.”
The Chiefs would be wise to bring the three-time Super Bowl champion back, as he’s become a huge contributor and a big fan favorite as well.
