Veteran tight end Zach Ertz has a new home.

The longtime pass-catcher out of Stanford will play in the NFC East yet again. However, Philadelphia Eagles fans might be disappointed to learn that Ertz signed with rival Washington.

NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero reported the news on Wednesday. He reported that Ertz and the Commanders agreed on a one-year contract worth $5 million.

“Three-time Pro Bowl TE Zach Ertz iss igning with the Commanders on a one-year deal worht up to $5 million,” Pelissero said. “It’s a reunion for Ertz and Kliff Kingsbury, who got him a ton of targets in Arizona,” he added.

After a college career best remembered for breaking Oregon fans’ hearts in 2012, Ertz joined the Eagles in 2013. He played with the team for nine seasons and helped them win Super Bowl LII over the New England Patriots. The three-time Pro Bowler landed nods in 2017, 2018, and 2019.

He has 709 career receptions for 7,434 yards and 46 touchdowns. With Phialdelphia, Ertz posted 579 receptions, 6,267 yards, and 38 career touchdowns. His best season came in 2018, when he caught 116 passes for 1,163 yards and scored eight touchdowns.

He joined the Cardinals during the 2021 NFL season. With the Cards, Ertz posted 130 receptions, 1167 yards, and eight touchdowns.

This is a quality move for Washington, and Ertz will be a big help to whoever the team drafts in the first round.
