The Miami Dolphins lost in gutting fashion on Monday night. But it turns out that the game was not the only thing the team lost. On Tuesday, the team announced that Connor Williams will miss the remainder of the 2023 NFL season.

Head coach Mike McDaniel told the media that Williams, the Dolphins’ center, tore his ACL and won’t play again this year.

Dolphins ESPN reporter Marcel Louis-Jacques posted the news of Williams’ injury and projected absence on X, the website formerly known as Twitter.

Williams joined the Dolphins in 2022 after spending four seasons with the Dallas Cowboys. The former consensus All-American at Texas has 73 career starts to his name.

Williams had been dealing with a groin injury this season after being named the first-string center at the start of the year. He missed the team’s game against the Buffalo Bills but has otherwise been able to stand up well.

This is a tough blow for the Dolphins as the season winds down. Offensive line play only grows with importance as the games gain more significance. Miami has been out in front in the AFC East, but it will be interesting to see if they can rally past this injury.

At a certain point, some things are too hard to overcome. But we’ll see if this has any adverse effects on the team’s pursuit in the playoffs.
