Cincinnati Reds superstar Elly De La Cruz set the world on fire with an epic rookie season. It appears he’s not slowing down for his sophomore season in 2024.

De La Cruz got off and running on Saturday in his Spring Training game against the Colorado Rockies.

And by “off and running,” we mean that he went liftoff. The slugger De La Cruz mashed a home run that turned heads. His home run went a whopping 470 feet!

X user BuckeyeNatty provided a video of the tape-measure blast.

In De La Cruz’s first season, he excited Reds fans and MLB fans alike. He hit .235/.300/.410, good for an OPS of .710, very solid for a rookie year. He hit 15 doubles, seven triples, and 13 home runs, all part of a 91-hit campaign in 427 plate appearances. He’ll surely get more run going forward as he’ll be a staple of the team for many years to come.

Last season, he exelled on the bases, he wowed fans with his speed, he hit cycles, he hit long home runs, and did it all with great style and class. De La Cruz is one of MLB’s brightest young stars and, when you watch him, it’s easy to see why.

The MLB world had plenty to say over the towering home run that Elly De La Cruz blasted on Saturday.
