New Los Angeles Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh will have high expectations at his new job. The now-former Michigan Wolverines coach made a much-anticipated move back to pro football after nearly ten years back in college football.

The Chargers job comes with some perks. There’s the sun and sand of Los Angeles. Also, there’s franchise quarterback Justin Herbert. A former Top 10 pick, many view Herbert as one of the best young quarterbacks in the league. But the former Oregon quarterback has been a bit snakebit.

Still, there’s obviously lots to like. Harbaugh recognizes talent when he sees it. So the new head coach was sure to note that he was “starstruck” by the Chargers quarterback after he met him.

“I have met Justin Herbert. I met him and Derwin James, pro’s pros these guys, Keenan Allen. But I was a little starstruck meeting Justin,” Harbaugh said via NFL.com.

Through 62 career games, Herbert is 30-32 as a starter. He’s completed 66.6 percent of his pass attempts for 17,223 yards. He’s thrown 114 touchdowns to 42 interceptions. Last season, in 13 games, Herbert threw for 3,134 yards, 20 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. The Chargers have been in need of a boost over the past few seasons, and for their sake, Harbaugh is that guy. We’ve seen what he can do for quarterbacks, so perhaps he can do well with the QB he was starstruck meeting.
