Jon Rahm Spanish professional golfer and Arizona State University alumnus Jon Rahm (right) shakes hands with Diamondbacks starting pitcher Merrill Kelly (29) after throwing out the ceremonial first pitch before Game 4 of the World Series between the Arizona Diamondbacks and Texas Rangers at Chase Field in Phoenix on October 31, 2023. The DBacks lost to the Rangers 11-7, putting the Ranger at 3-1 in the World Series.

Pro golfer Jon Rahm is likely to continue hitting the links instead of taking a pitcher’s mound anytime soon. The accomplished PGA Tour golfer Rahm, a Scottsdale resident and former Arizona State grad, appeared prior to Game 4 of the 2023 World Series to throw out the first pitch. It’s safe to say that things didn’t go great.

Rahm, sporting his 2023 Masters Tournament green jacket, took the mound before the game at Chase Field. While the Arizona Diamondbacks and Texas Rangers watched on, Rahm delivered. But the pitch sailed on him.

“Put some pace on the pitch, missed it right,” Jeff Eisenband posted. The post on X, formerly known as Twitter, included a video from the Diamondbacks of the pitch.

The angle didn’t show it, but as Golf Digest brutally put it, it wasn’t pretty.

“Jon Rahm throws out first pitch at Game 4 of World Series, airmails it halfway to Albuquerque,” the golfing publication wrote.

Ouch. It was a tough break, but it wasn’t a laughably bad first pitch. There have been worse attempts than Rahm’s, so the accomplished golfer can hang his hat on that. We’ll likely keep seeing him hit it off the golf tee, though.

Many took the time to poke fun at Jon Rahm, though after the first pitch was made. As always, there was plenty to say.

Naturally, Rahm also poked fun at himself too afterward.

“It was just a bitttttt outside,” Rahm said. Just a bit!
