The 2024 NFL Draft is right around the corner, and you’ll probably see many college players declare for it as the days go by. That trend continued on Thursday as a South Carolina Gamecocks defensive lineman chose to declare the conclusion of his college career.

South Carolina EDGE Jordan Strachan announced that he will go pro. Strachan made the announcement on his personal Twitter account.

Strachan thanked God, his family, his coaches, and his teammates and mentors. He then closed the statement by saying, “With that being said, I am blessed to finally be in this position healthy and ready to show my talents and declare for the 2024 NFL Draft.”

Strachan attended South Carolina and Georgia State throughout his college career. In five seasons, he picked up 17.5 sacks, recording 9.5 in the COVID-shortened 2020 season. At 6-5, 250 lbs., he looked the part and played the part while a Gamecock.

He will surely be one of many from the SEC to declare for the NFL Draft. The conference has boasted dozens and dozens of NFL draftees, and many of them have turned out to be the best of the best. Strachan is hoping to follow in a long line of great SEC players, even from South Carolina on its own. Time will tell to see what his fate becomes, but best of luck to him in the process.
