Kyle McCord Barbara Perenic/Columbus Dispatch

After announcing his intention to enter the transfer portal on December 4, many thought former Ohio State Buckeyes quarterback Kyle McCord would be heading to Lincoln to play for the Nebraska Cornhuskers

However, that no longer seems to be the case.

On3 reported Wednesday night that McCord is moving on from Nebraska and will keep his options open.

McCord was in Lincoln over the weekend and earlier this week visiting the campus and will be keeping his options open and visiting other schools, but the Cornhuskers are out.

It’s unclear where McCord will look next, but plenty of schools still have openings at quarterback including Florida State, Syracuse, Louisville, and Duke among others.

In 2023, McCord went 11-1, his only season as a starter for the Buckeyes. He went 229-for-348 for a completion percentage of 65.8. His 24 touchdown passes were second in the Big Ten, and his six interceptions placed him right in the middle of quarterbacks in the conference.

McCord and the Buckeyes lost 30-24 to the Michigan Wolverines on November 25, effectively eliminating them from College Football Playoff contention. It was Ohio State’s third straight loss to Michigan and in the days that followed, head coach Ryan Day, who has played a major role in all three losses compared to the one-loss McCord was involved in, refused to commit to the junior quarterback going forward.
