Amon-Ra St. Brown isn’t thrilled over being snubbed for the Pro Bowl. The voting results for the annual year-end event were released earlier this week. But the Detroit Lions wide receiver wasn’t among the final vote-getters.

Suffice it to say, he’s none too pleased.

“The receivers that got picked, they’re great players, but I was hot,” he said via ESPN. “I guess I didn’t do enough during the season,” he later continued. “So I’ve got to go harder.”

St. Brown finished the 2023 NFL season with 112 receptions, 1,371 yards, and nine touchdowns. His 112 receptions were a Lions single-season record, usurping the great Herman Moore.

In his three-year career in Detroit, St. Brown has been among the best receivers in the league. He’s totaled two consecutive 100-reception, 1,000-yard seasons in a row. Last year, he caught 106 receptions for 1,161 yards and six touchdowns. He reached the 20-touchdown plateau for his career this season, and the sky’s obviously the limit there. He’s also among the most targeted receivers in football, with 419 career targets. He had 154 this season and 146 last season.

But his situation probably had something to do with it, fair or foul. The Lions aren’t known to be a winner, and this season marked the first time since 1993 that they won a division championship. Perhaps if the Lions continue on this upward trajectory, Amon-Ra St. Brown awareness could increase.
