The Michigan Wolverines underwent a coaching change recently, in case you haven’t heard. The Wolverines saw Jim Harbaugh depart for the Los Angeles Chargers in the NFL. Michigan then went on and replaced Harbaugh with offensive coordinator and celebrated interim coach Sherrone Moore. Michigan men’s basketball coach Juwan Howard is a big fan of that move. But what about Harbaugh?

Well, Howard might have some new priorities now if his words this weekend are any indication.

Howard, a Michigan basketball legend, had kind words for Harbaugh and suggested he’d start being a Chargers fan now.

“Well, I’m a big-time Bears fan,” Howard said via On3. “And now I became a big-time [Los Angeles] Chargers fan.”

Harbaugh isn’t a stranger to the Chargers organization. He played his last few years in the NFL. He spent the 1999 and 2000 seasons with the Chargers, throwing for a combined 4,177 yards and 18 touchdowns.

It’s a significant move in the AFC, a conference currently dominated by AFC West rival Kansas City. The Chiefs just won the AFC Championship again and will return back to the Super Bowl after defeating the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday afternoon.

With Justin Herbert, the Chargers have some potential left to unpack still. We’ll see if Harbaugh can unlock it. We will also see how much of a fan Juwan Howard can turn into.
