After their Rose Bowl loss, Alabama is going through roster attrition. Several Crimson Tide players announced their intention to enter the NCAA transfer portal.
Nine Alabama players in total announced their intentions. The list features a quarterback, two wide receivers, a tight end, two offensive linemen, two defensive backs, and one defensive lineman.
College football reporter Matt Zenitz laid out the list entirely. It featured quarterback Eli Holstein, wide receivers Malik Benson and Shazz Preston, and tight end Miles Kitselman. It also included starting center Seth McLaughlin and offensive lineman Terrence Ferguson. On defense, Monkell Goodwine, Earl Little, and Kristian Story all departed the program, too.

This is just the nature of college football these days. It’s become a sport of free agency of sorts. Players have begun to depart their schools with much more freedom and ease compared to how it used to be. The transfer portal, along with NIL, has been a game-changer for the sport. In all earnest, it’s a positive thing for the student-athletes not face heavy restrictions. So it’s all for the greater good.
Still, it’s a pretty stark number to send their goodbyes. ‘Bama will certainly look different in depth aspects but should still come into the year as one of the most talented teams in college football in the 2024 season.
