The Nebraska Cornhuskers made a significant move this week in the world of college football. Matt Rhule and the Huskers landed No. 1 quarterback recruit Dylan Raiola. It was a huge move for Nebraska, who hasn’t seen a recruit like Raiola in their long and storied history sign with them before.

The moment Raiola signed could go down as a major step forward for the program if he plays well. Nebraska fans have been frustrated in the 21st Century as the team’s run of success in the 20th Century feels like ancient history at times. But Nebraska may be making some serious moves now with Raiola aboard.

Rhule noted what the moment meant for Nebraska and what Raiola can bring to the table during an appearance on Big Ten Network.

“Well, I think anytime you feel good about the guy you’re bringing in at quarterback, it’s special,” Rhule said. “To have a guy behind center that we believe in, that we know can win championship games, I think it means a lot.”

“To have one of the best players in the country choose Nebraska, maybe that signals to people, ‘Hey, maybe something special is happening here,'” Rhule added.

Nebraska and Raiola will have a new Big Ten to play in next season. If he plays up to par, they’ll surely be competitive.
