The Oregon Ducks missed the 2023 College Football Playoff despite a strong year. Second-year head coach Dan Lanning appears close to getting Oregon into the thick of it. While they weren’t successful against rival Washington in their two tries, there’s a belief that the Ducks are on the verge of something special. Consider Fox Sports’ Joel Klatt as one of those among the believers.

Klatt likes the composition of Oregon as they go into the 2024 season. While quarterback Bo Nix departs, Oklahoma transfer Dillon Gabriel arrived this December. Then, the Ducks also grabbed former top recruit Dante Moore, who transferred from UCLA. Combine these moves with expected progressions, and Klatt likes what he saw. He expressed that on ‘The Joel Klatt Show’ this week.

“Now, Oregon is also one of these teams that seems to have a lot of momentum going for them next season,” Klatt said. “They get Dillon Gabriel in the transfer portal. They flipped a couple of transfers, one an offensive lineman… they seem to, I believe, have gotten Dante Moore, or at least it’s reported that Dante Moore is going to be an Oregon commit. Their high school recruiting classes have been outstanding. Their youth on the offensive and defensive two-deep… is outstanding.

“Oregon is going to be a Playoff team next year,” Klatt declared. “I’m going to be shocked if Oregon is not in the 12-team Playoff.”

Klatt emphasized that Oregon is a “Top 3” team in the new Big Ten, bringing them in the company of Michigan, Ohio State, and Penn State. He considered them one of the teams best built for early success in their new conferences.

Klatt said that he thinks Oregon can have a “monster season” in 2024. Depending on who you ask, there might be plenty who agree with him.
