Cincinnati Reds rookie shortstop Elly De La Cruz Cincinnati Reds shortstop Elly De La Cruz (44) jogs in to the dugout in the middle of the fourth inning during a baseball game between the San Diego Padres and the Cincinnati Reds, Saturday, July 1, 2023, at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati.

Cincinnati Reds sensation Elly De La Cruz is at it again. After a tremendous rookie season, De La Cruz will not slow down in 2024. That proved to be true on Saturday during a Spring Training game the exciting Reds star played in.

De La Cruz went yard on Saturday during his team’s game against the Colorado Rockies.

But it’s not just the home run that’s the story. It’s also how far the ball traveled. De La Cruz’s home run went an astonishing 470 feet!

X user BuckeyeNatty provided an awe-inspiring video of the mammoth home run.

Cruz put on some incredible displays last year. He hit for the cycle, he embarrassed defenses on the basepaths, and he played an exciting brand of baseball. It invigorated Cincinnati, who’d dealt with some very downtrodden seasons. Though, it should be noted they were mostly self-inflicted, as the team has failed to field a competitive team over the past few seasons. They also refuse to spend a lot of money, leaving fans wondering what the point of all of it is.

But De La Cruz is one of the brightest young stars in Major League Baseball. He continues to show why every time he steps to the plate. Saturday was no different, as he put on a show with his tape-measure home run.
