A Grand Canyon University baseball player wanted to celebrate a game-tying grand slam on Sunday. He was promptly ejected for the celebration.

Tyler Wilson blasted off in the bottom of the fifth inning after the Antelopes loaded the bases. The Nebraska Cornhuskers couldn’t corral them in this case, as Wilson’s mind-blowing grand slam tied the game and sent everyone in a tizzy.

Naturally, the umpires

It’s a shame that not having fun on the baseball diamond isn’t just exclusive to Major League Baseball. Even college baseball, marketed more often as “fun” and much more lively, deals with grumpy umpires and otherwise.

As you can imagine, the response to this moment wasn’t great. Plenty of people were furious over the fact that the umpire ejected Wilson.

Some were more forceful with their declarations than others. But one thing is certain: People do not like when the fun police is out there during sports. It happens in baseball, it happens in football with “taunting” penalties or otherwise. It’s always so silly to do all this when these athletes are always in high-pressure situations.

Hopefully, Grand Canyon continues to have fun anyway after this. If Nebraska players were upset… much like they say to upset Major Leaguers in these spots: Throw a better pitch, man.
