Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud appears ready to go again. After missing last week’s game against the Cleveland Browns, Stroud cleared concussion protocol this week. That clearance paves the way for the accomplished rookie quarterback to play again.
Stroud addressed the media on Thursday shortly after reports emerged that he cleared protocol. Houston’s Chancellor Johnson of KPRC2 Houston posted a video of Stroud’s presser.
“C.J. Stroud has cleared concussion protocol and will start Sunday against the Titans,” Johnson said.
“It’s great being back,” Stroud said. He went on to say he appreciated the support and that he was happy to be back and to be able to do his job.

Stroud has excelled in Houston this season in a tough situation. The Texans weren’t thought very highly of entering this season. They went through a coaching change and were lacking in talent in depth. But both of the team’s first-rounders, Stroud and Will Anderson Jr., have been impact players this season. That combined with elevated play around them has caused a surge. They’re in the playoff hunt with two weeks to go, a better spot than anyone could have envisioned them being in.
Stroud is a serious Offensive Rookie of the Year contender and might as well be the current frontrunner. His return to the lineup should signal big things for the Texans.
