Houston Texans rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud is having a great season. But he missed last week’s game vs. the Cleveland Browns after sustaining a concussion. But fear not–Stroud appears ready to go again. We learned this week that the former Ohio State signal-caller cleared concussion protocol. That paves the way for his return to the field.

Local TV reporter Chancellor Johnson was among those to report the news on Thursday.

“C.J. Stroud has cleared concussion protocol and will start Sunday against the Titans,” Johnson said.

Stroud spoke to the media after the news emerged. He seemed relieved to be back and able to get back to work during the press conference.

Stroud has been the best rookie quarterback this season and is a frontrunner for Offensive Rookie of the Year. While there have been talented receivers to emerge this year from the rookie class, it’s likely that Stroud is going to take home the award. The Texans weren’t thought highly of for a plethora of reasons prior to this season. But Stroud and others, like Will Anderson Jr. on defense, and the emerging Tank Dell and Nico Collins, have powered this team to relevance. They’re in the thick of the playoff hunt with two weeks remaining. So, Stroud’s presence takes on another meaning also, as he definitely gives them their best chance.

The NFL world was delighted to hear the update on C.J. Stroud and his health.
