In golf, there are always shots people wish they could get back.
This was especially the case on Saturday for Jon Rahm, who had some bad luck when he badly shanked a tee shot off hole 13 to the far right during the Quicken Loans National Tournament. But that shot happened to be tracked via CBS’s Protracer feature, which is used throughout tournaments to chart the course of golf balls as they’re hit, so the viewer gets a better idea of the ball’s trajectory. It just so happens that Rahm’s shank was a perfect opportunity to chart just how bad his tee shot was.
It happens to all of us.

Rahm finished round three in third place, three shots behind the leader, but you wouldn’t know it if you just saw this particular tee shot. As is the norm, plenty of people had fun with Rahm’s misadventure:

If anything, Rahm goes to show that even professional golfers on the PGA aren’t immune to the shanks from time to time. That’s certainly comforting, and it’s also nice to see what a Protracer path would look like for most of us.
