A fan attending Game 7 of the NBA was hospitalized after getting into a fight with a fellow attendee and falling off the second deck railing at Oracle Arena, police told David DeBolt of East Bay Times. The man fell after the Cleveland Cavaliers clinched the NBA title with a 93-89 victory over the Golden State Warriors.

The man, reportedly in his early 20s, was sent to a nearby hospital after the fall. Oakland police spokeswoman Officer Johnna Watson told the East Bay Times that the injured man fell from the second deck onto the first deck, after the fan he was fighting with pushed him. He’s reported to be in critical, but stable condition.

The following statement was issued by police about the incident:

No arrests were made following the incident.

While it’s unknown what really happened or who was the guilty party in initiating the fight, it’s an awful outcome for everyone involved. Being in critical condition is nothing to scoff at. I can’t imagine it’s the result the fan expected once he bought and attended the game.

Hopefully, the man who fell will be okay and the fan who pushed him will be found and the appropriate punishments will be laid against him.
