Take a bow John Quenneville.

With the Brandon Wheat Kings and the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies facing off in the Memorial Cup tournament which determines the best team in the Canadian Hockey League, Quenneville scored one of the best goals you’ll ever see.

As the Wheat Kings trailed 5-2 in the third period, Quenneville took a beautiful end-to-end pass from defenseman Ivan Provorov to spring him on a breakaway. Quenneville deked, threw up a leg kick and then pulled a Marek Malik and shot the puck between his own legs for an absolute beauty of a goal.

I don’t want to be hyperbolic, but it’s one of the best goals you’ll ever see. Honestly. It takes incredible skill to pull that off, especially during an actual game.

Quenneville, a first-round pick by the New Jersey Devils in 2014, isn’t known for being an offensive star, but he has been absolutely brilliant for the Wheat Kings with 16 goals and 27 points in 21 games in the playoffs, leading Brandon to a WHL title win. It appears he’s continuing his strong play in the Memorial Cup.

Unfortunately for Quenneville, the Wheat Kings fell 5-3 to the Huskies. However, he just added one hell of a goal to his highlight reel – although I’m sure he’d much rather see his team win.
