TV legend Abe Vigoda passed away on Tuesday at the age of 94. The actor was best known for his role as Salvatore Tessio in The Godfather and playing Phil Fish in Barney Miller. He also was known for becoming a long-time part of late night history when David Letterman did a skit trying to summon his ghost. Conan O’Brien continued using Vigoda in gags in the late 90’s, as Vigoda appeared on his show multiple times throughout the years.

On Tuesday night, O’Brien remembered Vigoda on his show. He and Andy Richter shared a few memories and presented highlights from his appearances including a “Vigodal eclipse,” “Abe ViYoda,” and releasing Abe into the wild.

Update, July 2021: This video has been removed.

The video is really sweet, as Vigoda clearly had a big impact on Conan’s show, no matter the network or timeslot.
