Former President Donald Trump was speaking the truth in 2021 when he said he was making an “obscene” amount of money to provide color commentary during a fight between Evander Holyfield and former UFC champion Viktor Belfort.

Simon Samano of USA Today broke the news.

According to the report, a revised personal financial disclosure filing from Trump revealed that Triller Legends II LLC paid him $2.5 million in September 2021, which was his most lucrative speaking engagement during his post-presidential life.

“Triller Fight Club promoted the crossover boxing match between Holyfield and Belfort, which Belfort won by first-round TKO on Sept. 11, 2021, at the Seminole Hard Rock in Hollywood, Florida. Trump provided color commentary during the four-fight main card,” Samano reported.

The report, filed Thursday, reveals roughly $1 billion in earnings since Trump left office, “much of it through speaking engagements and appearances, along with foreign dealers.”

Despite recruiting the former president for color commentary, Triller shut down operations in September 2022.

Trump is currently the frontrunner for the Republican Party nomination for president in 2024. As Samano notes, Trump has “always had an affinity for combat sports. He’s a longtime friend of UFC president Dana White, who endorsed Trump for president in 2016 and 2020 with speeches at the Republican National Convention.”
