When former USC Trojans men’s basketball coach Andy Enfield left the school to take the SMU Mustangs head coaching job, there was a lot of curiosity out there surrounding who USC would pick to replace Enfield.
Enfield had a lot of success with the Trojans, taking the team to five NCAA Tournaments in his 11 seasons at the helm and going 220-146.
He laid the foundation for sustained success, plus with the school joining the Big 10 next season, it opened a new and exciting challenge for whomever the next coach would be.
The Trojans wasted little time making their decision on Enfield’s replacement, as they have reached an agreement with Arkansas Razorbacks head coach Eric Musselman to be their new head coach.
ESPN’s Jeff Borzello had the news first on Thursday afternoon.

As Borzello notes, Musselman was successful in his five years at Arkansas, bringing the team to two Elite Eights and three Sweet Sixteens.
Before he took the Arkansas job, Musselman was the head coach of the Nevada Wolf Pack, so he has a history of coaching and recruiting in the Western part of the United States.
Musselman, who played college basketball at San Diego, also has stops with the Golden State Warriors, Sacramento Kings, Reno Bighorns, Los Angeles D-Fenders, and Arizona State Sun Devils on his resume. He was the head coach of the four NBA/NBA G-League teams listed and was an assistant with the Sun Devils.
Musselman is 221-93 in his nine seasons as a collegiate head coach and has won fewer than 20 games in a season just once.
